Samvad Producers Shoot Child Labor Film

This past week, Samvad producers travelled to the Behrampura neighborhood of Ahmedabad and filmed scenes for an upcoming film about the use of child labor in slum areas.

A number of community members gathered to watch, as Rehana, Sofia, Zuber, Tarun, Nimesh and Samvad intern Silvia set up their equipment and began shooting scenes for the drama portion of the upcoming video.

The child actors, Rafiq and Munaf (photo below),
both age 13, were selected from a pool of 12 children who auditioned for the film.

Rafiq and Munaf play two young boys, one who works in a tea stall, and one who works as a mechanic in a garage. In the film, both characters are abused by their bosses and work from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. with little rest.
